Just a reply to dryden88. They probably abduct rural people for good reason. Those "dumb rednecks" you speak of are obviously smarter and more civilized than you and your kind! Better test subjects! They don't, as a rule live in violent societies like you! You are a moron of the highest order who has convinced yourself of your superior "this & that" but, you have nothing that would sufice as "proof of it. While them "rednecks" are busy feeding the world, and developing unused land into nice small towns and clean neighborhoods you are busy wrecking what we think of as civilization! If we are rednecks then you are certainly sub-human! They have obviously decided to focus their inquiries on civilized humans and not the degenerative, regressive ( I'm sure you think of yourself as progressive ) & half animal wing of the species, such as your kind! I guess you should be happy that you aren't evolved enough to be a suitable example of the human race in it's highest form, from anything intelligents' perspective! HAVE A NICE DAY

Oh Oh. This is a question that lets the crazy people get it all off their chest..."I was one kidnapped and probed"etc. If we ever do meet them I hope they are more like the Gene Rodenberry type rather than the Ridley Scott type. Mmmmm Seven-Of-Nine!

Re: POLL - Is Earth Ready to Meet an Alien Civilization?
Whether all 7 billion members of the Earth's population agree about this question or not, it is a NECESSARY next step to move our planet out of a petty fear-mongering, warring, superstitious, bickering, self-centered paradigm and into a NEW global-centered and Galactic AWARE united race of people. Its time we lose old labels like "Nationalism" and "Religious" and "Conservative or Liberal" and entered an expanded consciousness that recognizes that we are NOT the only game in town, that we are ready to grow up and embrace a greater understanding of our place in the Universe. Its a bold step, but a worthy one. Seriously, think about it... if there is life beyond our planet (which is logical to expect) and they are somehow available to be contacted already, it would be reasonable to acknowledge that if there was really anything to fear, there would be nothing we could do about it, and whatever horrible thing we imagine would have surely already been done by "them," as their technology and might would most certainly have already conquered, enslaved and prepared us for their next meal. Since nothing maleficent has occurred thus far (no invasion, no mass culling, no concentration camps, no draining of our planets water and other resources, etc.), the we are acting irrational to fear something that has yet to demonstrate a reason to fear (and those who currently fear are acting as though E.T. is yet another superstition to be embraced on "blind faith" alone). Once we open our minds to contact it changes the way we perceive ourselves and pushes us beyond the stagnant, even dangerous ideologies that we need to shed.

Re: POLL - Is Earth Ready to Meet an Alien Civilization?
"As long as there is man there will bee poor and hungry and war and death. THAT is the natural way of things."
No, THAT is NOT the natural way of things. That is the way we continue to CHOOSE for things to be. We can, at any time CHOOSE to embrace a destiny where we shed our irrational fears and move toward compassion and egalitarian society, but we need to shed notions of money and dominance and ignorance which currently guide our planet. As long as the FEW seek to control the MANY through manipulation, greed and oppression, we will have problems, but we can CHOOSE to move beyond those out-dated concepts. They are manufactured, NOT natural. In the Natural realm we are emerging as a species that seeks knowledge and ways to better the human and ecological conditions. It is our ties to outdated notions like religion and nationalism and greed that keep us divided and in an imaginary state of perpetual manufactured lack.

@PholusCentaur, you are totally right. But quoted comment is not that wrong. I think that the wrong part is that "natural way of things". We, as civilization, are so primitive at the moment, and that is the sad part, but few are seeing that, because the stupidest and the most ignorant ones are those who are rich and only care about self-existence. That is primitive feeling, and could be defined in relation to animals.
I decided to opt first choice, because we must gain knowledge as more as we can, no matter of conditions our civilization is, for our children sake. We actually need to discover more than we did at all. Look at the computer science, rocket and space travels science, even our brains are still mystery, the whole medicine! And the problem in every field of science is money. It's the main enemy. Our own system. That's why if ancient civilizations could look at us, would say, "Oh gosh, it's not supposed to be this way."
Is Earth ready to meet an alien civilization = Is Earth ready to go on as it could

Re: POLL - Is Earth Ready to Meet an Alien Civilization?
The humans of Earth are either way too quick to act violently against what it doesn't understand or bombard it with questions of the universe like some interstellar paparazzi from hell. Some may think we are ready to meet them, others think differently. I think that we would treat the nice little (or big) aliens like we did in the movie District 9. However, some of us humans wouldn't react in the same manner as those mean humans in District 9, but instead might act caring and trustworthy with politeness and respect. Others... (the ones who are always upfront and volatile) would probably start something like a first contact war in which case we'd get our rear arses handed to us. Thing is, with humans, theres no expecting what would really happen, we are a very unpredictable race. The aliens might just be the ones who are surprised instead of us.

As results show, humanity is ready and able to face up to the extraterrestrial reality. The human global subconsciousness knows it. When the military commanders that are in charge of the extraterrestrial cover up will see the light, they will have to acknowledge this.

The fact that the people are ready proves the BS of "alien cover-up conspiracy", supn. We've been ready for years. In my opinion we've been ready for years, anyway. We are already culturally immersed with the possibility of alien life so actually meeting them would like "They do exist!" and whatever initial emotion arises from that realization; shock, ecstasy disbelief, denial, what have you, would soon pass and we would set in to dealing with a new reality, a new paradigm, whatever that paradigm might be. And history has shown that people are quite resilient in that area.

History has also shown that the truth always comes out in the end, and that humanity adapted to it.

Re: POLL - Is Earth Ready to Meet an Alien Civilization?
We are definitely not ready for alien visitation. While individually we humans could handle it, humans in groups are much less able to cope with things in a constructive manner. Take for instance the Wal-mart incident in New York on black friday last year. While individually the shoppers were thinking " I am going to go get myself a cheap tv", in a group they trampled and killed a clerk. Then you can take other example such as New Orleans, where instead of worrying about important things like food and shelter, people were looting tvs. Where the heck do you plug in a tv when your house is underwater anyway? That is not even taking into consideration the fact that human beings freak out every time some hack declares that the end of the world is coming, backed up by evidence consisting of quatrains so broad you could apply them to your bowel movements, or a calender ending...
No, I am pretty sure that alien visitation would result in alien worship and death cults, looting, increased crime rates, and the formation of anti-alien resistance movements (because you know that there will be tons of people out there that think that the aliens are going to lay eggs in their chest, or conspire with/take over the govt), and probably all kinds of additional shenanigans that are less obvious.
