Unless you are being real nit picky they are the same thing. The USA buying an EU plane is not serving to maintain the USA's ability to build tankers or planes in general or keep the aviation skilled work force employed.

Yes and no, a vast majority of the aircrafts components, engines, avionics, landing gear and many other parts already come from the U.S. for both aircraft. If Airbus wins it will be assembled from sections made in Europe and assembled the South Carolina, the 767 is assembled in Everett from sections made in Japan. There is little difference in where the money goes with either plane.

The real differences boil down to the different sizes of the aircraft and the flight control systems. The Airbus is bigger and can carrry more cargo and fuel longer distances. The 767 fits with what the contract initially called for and the manual flight controls are a plus for reliability and survivability. Both are being delivered to countries already and will still have a world-wide market if they lose this competition.

If the Airbus wins because of it's larger size and capabilities then Boeing should have been competing with the 777 or 787. If the contract specifications are stayed with the 767 should win. close(-)

Yes. When you are right, you are right.... Bush and Cheney (and Karl Rove... don;t forget about him) made up this whole story about WMDs just so we could send a 130,000 American soldiers to Iraq and spend hundreds of Billions of dollars so that Cheney's old company could make an extra couple of hundred million..... (when Cheney was no longer working for them)

Obviously that was not the driving reason, it was just a fringe benefit. It was the Neocon Agenda, mold the Middle east in our model of what it should be.


Busch and Cheney were smart enough to fool all of the American People and to fool all the Democrats in congress with a phoney WMD story....

I don't think they fooled all the people, they didn't fool me. I also think they didn't so much fool the Democrats in Congress as blatantly mislead them and the Republicans just as well. That a lot of Senators and Representatives believed the lies because it was the expedient thing to do to get re-elected says a lot about their qualifications to hold office.

Funneling money is the way it works. I seriously doubt they thought Iraq would turn out as it has. They truly thought the people would be throwing rose petals at the feet of the American liberators and Halliburton and all the others would
be enriched.

No, I meant the capability to build a tanker, though Boeing has numerous customers that are already operating the 767 derive vehicle and Airbus is starting to deliver their version also. close(-)
